Ahead of the Surrey Youth Games this summer, Elmbridge council is offering free training sessions for any child who lives or goes to school in the borough.

From March, children will be able to take part in a wide variety of sports including badminton, basketball, boccia, girls cricket, football, hockey, judo, netball, squash, swimming, tag rugby and tennis all for free.

These are called 'Give it a Go!' sessions.

Halloween fever took over ACS Cobham on Friday ,October 30, as students dressed up as ghouls and devils for the school's annual spooky festivities.

In the afternoon, younger pupils of the international school, in Portsmouth Road, took
part in a parade dressed in full Halloween costume while watched by the rest of the school.

In the evening, the eighth annual trick or trunk event took place in the grounds, where families dress up the trunks of their cars where children could collect sweets.

St Andrews primary school is holding its Christmas fair on Monday, November 30 at the school in Lockhart Road.

Taking place from 3pm until 5pm, everyone is welcome to take part in a chocolate tombola, a lucky dip and the festive raffle.

Children will also be able to visit Santa in his grotto and make Christmas arts and crafts.

The choirs from Notre Dame Senior School in Cobham will be performing at Westminster Cathedral in London on Saturday September 26.

TWO school nurses from Cobham were presented with the runners-up awards at the Migraine Heros Healthcare Awards in London on Monday September 7.

Elmbridge Youth Theatre is looking to recruit new members both on stage and its technical team.

bball2.JPGRadio 1 DJ Vernon Kay swooped into ACS Cobham on Saturday, August 15 to take part in a training session with Great Britain's male basketball team.

The DJ and television presenter was recording material for his Saturday morning show, which was co-hosted by Great Britain and Chicago Bulls star, Luol Deng, when he popped along to the school, in Portsmouth Road, Cobham.

The team were using the school for its summer training camp, in preparation for the European championships, which start on Monday (7) in Poland.

Edward Schlachter, sports centre manager, said: "At ACS Cobham we are proud of the sporting facilities that we offer, so I am delighted that we have been able to share these facilities with the British basketball players.

"It will certainly be inspirational for the students to know that British basketball players at the top of their profession have played on the same court as them."

The Cobham Junior Netball club is looking for new members, from school years six to 10 to join for the upcoming season.

The club trains at Heathside school, in Brooklands Lane, Weybridge on Sunday mornings from 10am to 11.30am.

The first training session starts on Sunday, September 21 and prospective members are encouraged to turn up where they will be given a membership pack and further details.

Over 20 students from ACS International School in Cobham have returned from the summer expedition to Namibia where they helped build facilities for local schools.

This is the tenth year that the school, in Portsmouth Road, has travelled to the South West African country to help construct buildings for one primary and two secondary schools.

Before going, the 16 and 17 year old students had to raise over £31,000 for the schools, which would help pay for materials.

kids2.JPGStudents from ACS Cobham are being treated to a variety of different activities as part of the school summer camps.

Being held at the school, in Portsmouth Road, youngsters are currently under the expert tuition of coaches from Premier League side Fulham, who are running the football camp as part of its community sports trust.

Similarly students are learning to develop their dance moves under the tutelage of Crawley based dance group, Flipside Dance, before performing a final show for family on Friends today (21).
