St George's Church in High Street, Esher is opening its doors on Saturday, October 3 to invite residents to sing contemporary and traditional gospel songs.

A workshop will be held from 2pm to 5pm, then participants will be performing in a concert from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Tickets for the workshop cost £10 and are available by phoning 07888 689064.

The event is part of the Birthday Song weekend, which is organised by the Churches Conservation Trust and will see 40 choirs across the country raising money for the charity.

Tom Inglis visited Cornerstone the Church, which is based at the Gold suite in Sandown Park, to give a sermon that was alive with music and activities.

He encouraged the younger members of the church to take part in puppet theatre to pray, and for the slightly older children, helped them to make pan pipes which they used to make joyful noises.

The chaplain of an Iraqi church is to give a talk at Cornerstone the Church on Sunday July 5.

Canon Andrew White, who is based at St George's Church in Baghdad, will be speaking at the church, which is based in the Gold Cup Suite at Sandown Park, in Portsmouth Road.

Starting at 6pm, everyone is welcome to attend the talk, which will see Canon White talk about his experiences in the Middle East.

A beach themed night is being held at Christ Church, in Church Street, Esher on Saturday June 27.

From 5.00pm, adults and children will be able to enjoy fish and chips, punch and judy shows, real ale and a free stick of rock.

Tickets for the English seaside themed night, cost £15 for adults and £5 for children, and include a portion of fish and chips.

A Californian TV presenter gave a talk at Cornerstone the Church on November 16.

Bayless Conley, presenter of CNBC show 'Answers with Bayless Conley' gave morning and evening sermons on the economic downturn and how to survive by turning to religion.

Cornerstone the Church meet every week in the Gold Cup Suite of Sandown Park, at 10.30am and 6pm.

Following a series of break-ins at a Hinchley Wood Church the Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team are stepping up patrols.

An Esher church welcomed a preacher from Baghdad and five Iraqi children on June 29.

Cornerstone The Church, based at Sandown Park, was visited by Canon Andrew White of St George's Church - which is the only Anglican church in the war-torn Iraqi capital, and has roads closed when armed soldiers escort Canon White to Sunday service.
