Elmbridge Community Safety Partnership has launched its 2009 Partnership Plan to tackle community safety issues across the borough.

As part of its requirement to make the Crime and Disorder Partnership more accountable to the community its work of last year was reviewed at an annual public meeting on Wednesday (June 17) and its new plan set out.

The chaplain of an Iraqi church is to give a talk at Cornerstone the Church on Sunday July 5.

Canon Andrew White, who is based at St George's Church in Baghdad, will be speaking at the church, which is based in the Gold Cup Suite at Sandown Park, in Portsmouth Road.

Starting at 6pm, everyone is welcome to attend the talk, which will see Canon White talk about his experiences in the Middle East.

A charity car boot sale is being held on Sunday July 5, at Cobham village hall.

Being held to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, each car will cost £10 to enter, and each van £15.

The day will start at 8am at the hall in Lushington Drive, Cobham.

Students from ACS International school in Cobham, held their end of year graduation ceremony and were joined by British sailor, Tracy Edwards.

Held at the school, in Portmsouth Road, on Wednesday June 17, parents and teachers attended the ceremony, which saw the students celebrate completing their High School Diploma.

Esher Rugby Club's Summer Ball was held on Saturday June 13 hosted by chairman of rubgy at the club and TV sports presenter John Inverdale.

The theme was a masque ball and was attended by 140 people in the Downey Suite at the club in Molesey Road, Hersham.

'Tides': an exhibition of Seascape Paintings at the Fountain Gallery

It can be predicted accurately that a tidal wave will hit 26 Bridge Street at 11.30am on Tuesday 9 June, as the Fountain Gallery opens its doors to 'Tides' an exhibition of seascape paintings by Scottish artist Beverley Waller. The exhibition runs from 9 to 21 June at the Fountain Gallery, Hampton Court, East Molesey.

plant-theft.jpgAfter weeks of planning, clearing and finally planting Claygate Parish Council, with the help of Claygate in Bloom volunteers (Carol Manley, Vanessa Relleen and Francis Boff), the St. Leonards Road of end of The Green in Claygate was finally completed.

That same night thieves were interrupted by a couple walking by at 10.30pm. Initially they thought volunteers were working late on The Green but soon realized that something fishy was going on.

When challenged the thieves took off in a white Ford Escort Estate car.

Husband charged over 'body in bin' case

Peter-Wallner-sitting.jpgPeter Wallner, 33, has been charged with the murder of his wife, Melanie Wallner, and with preventing the lawful and decent burial of her body.

Melanie's body was found in a wheelie bin outside a house in Hamilton Avenue, Cobham on Saturday (June 6). She would have been 32-years-old on 10 November last year, but it is still unclear exactly when she died.

St Andrew's primary school is holding its summer fair on Friday June 19 from 5.00pm to 8.00pm.

Being held at the school in Lockhart Road, Cobham, there will be stalls, raffles and games.

Everyone is welcome but due to the economic climate, there were not enough funds to hold the annual donkey derby, instead a fun dog show is being put on.

A beach themed night is being held at Christ Church, in Church Street, Esher on Saturday June 27.

From 5.00pm, adults and children will be able to enjoy fish and chips, punch and judy shows, real ale and a free stick of rock.

Tickets for the English seaside themed night, cost £15 for adults and £5 for children, and include a portion of fish and chips.
