A 24-year-old man from Esher who fell 50ft from a window in Walton on Saturday January 17 escaped with only a broken arm.

The man fell from a fourth floor window at Thamesview House, in Felix Road, about 12.25am.

Put on by the politics department at the college in Weston Green Road, in Thames Ditton, students were given a talk on civil rights and civil liberties by Lord Woolf.

The former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales was invited to the college by the students who organised the event.

Two drivers had to be cut from their cars after colliding in Woodstock Lane, between Claygate and Long Ditton, at 2pm on Thursday (15).

An 18-year-old woman, who was driving a blue Vauxhall Corsa suffered a fractured left wrist and was taken to Kingston Hospital by air ambulance also suffering from pain in abdominal and pelvis pain.

A 76-year-old man, who was driving a green Toyota Corolla, was also taken to Kingston Hospital suffering a broken pelvis and leg injuries by a London Ambulance.

The road was closed in both directions while the drivers were treated and the vehicles cleared from the carriageway. It reopened just after 5.30pm.

Voluntary Action Elmbridge is looking for new volunteers.

VAE distribute volunteers to any community, faith or voluntary service across Elmbridge.

At any one time there are 450 volunteer opportunities, and they are looking for new recruits.

Volunteers are expected to be honest, eager and organised.

Formula one racing driver Jenson Button will be taking part in a 10km run at Sandown Park in Esher next month.

The Saucony race takes place around the course in Portsmouth Road and coincides with a triathlon exhibition, which is taking place at the racecourse that weekend.

A cast of some of the young best British Opera talent will perform Aladdin at the Vera Fletcher Hall in Thames Ditton from Friday January 16.

Charles Court Opera group will perform the show over two nights and proceeds from tickets sold will go towards the Thames Ditton Hospital Appeal, which aims to improve services for the community.

The Elmbridge Borough Council recycling team was busy over the weekend as almost 200 christmas trees were collected and turned into soil conditioner.

Residents were invited to bring their trees along to Elmbridge Civic Centre in Esher High Street on Saturday, so that they could be taken away.

Accusations of betrayal and 'having one foot in each grave' has led to one Elmbridge MP standing his ground.

MP for Esher and Walton, Ian Taylor, has disbanded claims of back stabbing by the Hampton Court Rescue Campaign when he wrote to the Secretary of State Hazel Blears in favour of not calling in Jolly Boatman application for a public enquiry.
