Each year Carol and her small but dedicated team create a wonderful festive lunch for patients at Princess Alice Hospice in West End Lane, Esher, and their families who will be spending Christmas Day at the hospice.

Aspel-Candlelight-Christmas.jpgHundreds of guests enjoyed a candlelight Christmas concert with TV host Michael Aspel in Claygate on December 13.

The Princess Alice Hospice charity concert took place at the Holy Trinity Church, in Church Road, with the hospice's Vice President and honorary Freeman of the Borough of Elmbridge Michael Aspel O.B.E as celebrity guest.

A 50th birthday party with a difference was held at Claygate Village Hall last week.

Trustees of the building hosted a celebration on Friday December 12 to mark the golden anniversary of the start of building work on the hall in Church Road, Claygate.

Pensioners from sheltered housing in Cobham were treated to a Christmas shopping trip in Staines by their beat bobby on Thursday December 11.

PC Lee Fabry holds a monthly coffee morning at Churchfield House in Lushington Drive, with PCSOs Eugene Terblanch and Sandra Treadgold, and at a meeting in November, learned that the residents have no transport to go Christmas shopping.

Cyle-Cuba1.jpgA woman who cycled a 250-mile trek around Cuba with ITV"s This Morning presenter Fern Britton for charity tells of her journey.

Annette Gardner, 53, took part in Cycle Cuba with 84 other women, including Fern Britton, to raise money for Professor Winston's charity, Women for Women, to improve the health of women and babies.

The speed limit is being reduced to 50mph on Byfleet Road in Cobham - much to the disappointment of campaigners who wanted it lowered to 30mph.

A decision to lower the limit by 10mph was made by Elmbridge's elected Surrey county councillors Monday December 8.
