Fantasy writer coming to town

A author who has had seven fantasy books published will be teaching her secrets at Esher College in September.

N M Browne will be teaching a 10 week crash course from September 17 at the college, in Western Green Road, Thames Ditton.

Police were called to the incident in Byfleet Road on July 16 at about 9.30am and closed off the road coming from Cobham.

Planners reject historic yard scheme

homeyard.jpgPlans to build six new flats on a historic carpenters' yard in Mill Road Cobham were rejected at an Elmbridge Council planning meeting last night (Wednesday July 16).

Derek Horne and Associates wanted to convert Home Yard, a 19th Century black timber warehouse, into four flats and build a further two on the grounds.

st-georges-fam-visit2-9.jpgResidents of St George's Nursing Home in Cobham were visited by goats, donkeys, pigs, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and lambs on Monday July 7.

The animals were brought to the nursing home in Byfleet Road by Millers Ark Farm based in Hampshire to save elderly making several trips.

Following the successful media launch in May, the 'Look Good Feel Great' project at the Princess Alice Hospice is going from strength to strength.

Trevor Sorbie, M.B.E, world famous hairdresser and celebrity stylist was very busy at the Hospice on June 5 as he transformed the hair and in some cases the wigs of six patients to make them look and feel like a million dollars.

The Princess Alice Hospice is always looking to do something different and that is why the first Princess Alice Hospice Midnight Walk will be open to men, women and children over 14 years of age.

The Community and Event Team at the Princess Alice Hospice, is launching an exciting new campaign for 2008 with the aim of hitting and exceeding their £10,000 target.

After last years very wet summer, the team are making the most of the sunshine this year and is now calling for Hospice supporters, schools, social groups, sports teams and local businesses to hold a Summer Sizzler BBQ in July and August. This is a simple, social and fun way to raise funds for this wonderful local charity.

Radiographer Joginder Daffu and A&E nurse Laxmi Popat joined fellow health workers at a thanksgiving service to mark 60 years of the NHS.

The duo have devoted their lives to caring for others and were invited to attend the special event at Westminster Abbey on July 2.

An Esher church welcomed a preacher from Baghdad and five Iraqi children on June 29.

Cornerstone The Church, based at Sandown Park, was visited by Canon Andrew White of St George's Church - which is the only Anglican church in the war-torn Iraqi capital, and has roads closed when armed soldiers escort Canon White to Sunday service.
