A film produced by Walton woman Miriam Segal, starring Lord of the Rings actor Viggo Mortensen and Jason Isaacs, of Harry Potter fame, will make its debut at the Odeon cinema in High Street, with its leading actors making an appearance.

A young mother and her one-year-old daughter were forced to stay in a bedroom when an arson fire started in her hall.

Sarah Maloney, 19, was with her 19 month old daughter Ellie at 6.00pm on Wednesday October 29 when she started smelling smoke coming from somewhere in her Cobham flat, and after searching for the source, saw it coming from her letterbox.

Winter time blues

mark.jpgIsn't it great now that winter is here?

(Only joking of course, that was a joke if you didn't realize. It's like the time I went to see a comedy night in Englefield Green and one of the comedians said 'I just came back from Glasgow. Great town, but not enough chunky faced alcoholics there for my liking.')

One of the only good things about winter is when the sun is shining on a crisp day, and you can see the sinking sun through the bare trees.

StuartTanner01.jpgA part-time basketball coach from Thames Ditton has become an internet sensation after four million people watched him beat a top US basketball star one-on-one.

A two minute video clip featuring Stuart Tanner, 28, and NBA champion Devin Harris is one of the most viewed videos on YouTube this week.

The footage was filmed by Mr Tanner's brother Greg after the multi-million dollar NBA star had led a coaching clinic in Stockwell, South London.

mark.jpgI visited Thorpe Park last week after being invited on a press trip by their publicity officers, and went with some of the other Herald journalists to try out the new 'Fright Night' mazes.

And I must say, I had a brilliant time, the rides were good, and we got given free nibbles and alcohol (which I didn't think was a very wise idea considering we were going to be shot around at 100mph).

But what struck me as strange was how the publicity team sold it to me as 'being a party for journalists and celebrities.'

Well, that and being a bit ill. But listen to this story, I think you'll like it.

Here I am, back in the office and undergoing the typical bizarre week you get at local papers.
